#T3Inspo: Trending Spring Haircuts

Spring has sprung! Read on to see Lead Stylist David Lopez‘s favorite trending spring haircuts.

Bob Hair Cut T3

The Bob

“Lobs are getting longer and the bob is getting shorter, making it one of our trending spring haircuts. This spring we’re going to see women going to the salon in droves asking for a short, above the collar cut. The key to this style is soft, minimal layers to add movement and longer, face-framing layers. Styling a bob is easy and not fussy. For quick waves, use your Cura LUXE dryer on the highest heat and speed settings and rough dry hair using the drying concentrator to add a sleek finish. Gently roll large sections away from your face with a Volume 2.5 round brush and heat with the dryer for effortless, soft bends.”

The Lived-In 70’s Fringe

“As lobs slowly get longer and longer, we’re starting to see mid-length haircuts become more and more popular. This haircut is very easily made cool with a sweepy 70’s fringe that almost every face shape can carry. The modern 70’s shag needs soft, effortless waves and a slight bend in the fringe. Use the SinglePass LUXE to give these bends by taking large horizontal sections of hair and pushing them up towards the top of your head until a ‘C’ shape starts to form. Gently press the ‘C’ shape into place with the flat iron, keep working down the section, alternating the direction of the ‘C’ shapes until you have an ‘S’ wave. Gently break up waves with your fingers to complete the lived-in look.”

Face Framing Whispies

“Kim Kardashian famously stated wishing that she had never lasered off her ‘baby hairs’ – the affectionately named section of hair around your hairline. You’ll be surprised to know that not only are women embracing these face-framing layers but also learning how to enhance and amplify their style. They add an instant romantic touch to any up-do. Ask your stylist to create shorter, face-framing layers just around the hairline to create this soft effect. For this top knot, measure two finger’s width above each ear and gather hair at the apex of your head and secure with a clear elastic. Create a double strand twist, then roll into a full bun, securing with hair pins. Gently pull our face-framing layers to add a romantic feel. Then, use the SinglePass Curl to wave sections for a quick and easy finish.”

The Curly Cut

“Natural curls and embracing natural texture are making a huge splash and today’s curly girl knows how important the haircut is to maximize your full curl potential. Ask your stylist for layers at the crown to minimize the ‘east to west’ effect hair shape that happens when curls are cut with no layering. Maintaining the health of your curls is especially important and minimizing heat damage is key. The ionized air produced by the Cura will help seal the cuticle and moisture into your hair for shinier, bouncier curls. Use the Cura and SoftCurl diffuser and hold the dryer 6 inches away from your hair and move it around your hair until 90% dry. If you want more volume, gently lean over and let your curls rest inside the diffuser for added volume and bounce.”

Longer Lengths

“2018 is seeing the return of longer lengths. Affectionately called ‘Cher’ hair after the iconic star’s show-stopping 70’s mane, this length is now achievable thanks to better-for-you air products and tools. If you’re thinking about growing your hair, you’ll want to do everything you can to minimize damage and breakage. Knowing how to utilize your heat settings on your dryer is very important for maintaining hair health. The Cura LUXE has 5 heat settings so chemically lightened strands, fine hair, or hair that is constantly heat styled will want to use level 2 or 3 depending on the density of your hair. Using the drying concentrator on the Cura LUXE will cut down your dry time and give you volume and fullness while you rough dry for shiny, healthy feeling hair.”
